Courtship and Valentine’s Day
By Horton Foote
Directed by John David Lutz
"Horton Foote chronicled a wistful American odyssey through the 20th century in plays and films mostly set in a small town in Texas and left us a literary legacy as one of the country's foremost storytellers." – Wilborn Hampton, The New York Times
During Foote's prolific career, he received two Academy Awards for his screenplays, To Kill A Mockingbird and Tender Mercies, and the Pulitzer Prize in Drama for The Young Man From Atlanta. In his nine-play epic, The Orphans' Home Cycle, he delves into the lives of ordinary people struggling to bear the weight of life's adversities and shows us the resilience of the human spirit. This two-play marriage centers around two young sweethearts and marks the beginning of a grand love story.

Book by Alfred Uhry
Music and Lyrics by Jason Robert Brown
Directed by R. Scott Lank
Musical Direction by Gregory B. Rike
Winner of Tony Awards for Best Book and Best Score, this intelligent musical deftly examines prejudices from America's past through the true story of Leo Frank, a Jewish man wrongly accused of murdering a young girl. The only American writer to win the Pulitzer Prize, an Academy Award, and a Tony Award–Alfred Uhry has penned a haunting account of this chilling tale. Jason Robert Brown's panoramic score of soaring ballads and rousing anthems lends a distinctive sound to the historic narrative. This emotional saga is a tribute to the bond between husband and wife and explores the depths to which one will go to protect and defend a loved one.

Light Up the Sky
By Moss Hart
Guest-directed by Brendon Fox
Even after 60 years since it's Broadway debut, Light Up The Sky is still a rollicking comedy! Set within the lavish hotel suite of a theatrical diva on her opening night, playwright Moss Hart's comedic genius is evidenced by the veritable array of zany characters he has created. Combine oddball personalities quipping witty one-liners with the flamboyant antics of kooky eccentrics, and it can only lead to over-the-top hysterics. The frenzied pace of this story has an undeniable panache that has made it a time-honored favorite and an exuberant reminder of Broadway's glory days.

The Winter’s Tale
By William Shakespeare
Directed by R. Scott Lank
Showcasing Shakespeare's writing at the height of his intellect and language, The Winter's Tale is unique in that it blends tragic, comic, romantic, and spiritual elements. The result is a theatrically daring and imaginative story that brings out the best in actors, directors, and designers. The Winter's Tale features intriguing plot twists including misplaced jealousy, a banished child, and a King's stubborn refusal to listen to his most-trusted advisors. As in cases of most rash decision-making, the passage of time leads to clearer vision, renewed hope, requited love, and the earnest solace of redemption. The Winter's Tale marks its debut on the Shanklin Theatre stage and continues the University of Evansville's long-standing tradition of producing Shakespeare at its finest.
